Nelson

This is Nelson, a dog park friend. He is part black lab and part great dane. He loves chasing after balls but does not like to bring them back. Overall, a pretty good fella.

Continuing Coverage

At this point the river covering Riverside Drive. Moments before this picture was taken a beaver swam by in the street. Going with the current that thing was flying.

The River at 52': Flood Stage

This pic was taken a day after the previous post. The River is up to 52’ feet here, expecting to crest in a few days at 57’. This is the highest I have ever seen the river and it is pretty creepy. Today it has pushed over the banks onto Riverside Drive in Covington.

Apocalyptica Cincinnatus

I was out walking the dog and came upon this sign just barely keeping it’s head above water. I snapped a shot with the camera on my phone and realized that it was worth returning to with the Canon. As soon as I got home I ditched the dog, grabbed my bag, and returned to the scene snapping this and a few other frames. I immediately set to work post-processing it when I got back home. This is the final product.

Covington Cathedral Bascilica of the Assumption (St. Mary's)

This is an HDR exposure of the sanctuary of St. Mary’s Cathedral Bascilica of the Assumption in Covington, KY. This is a composite of five different exposures, melded into one, to create an image with high dynamic range…HDR.

Winter...Still Here.

Booooo!

On The Tracks

Some might say that I have not learned my lesson about taking pictures near railroad tracks. An overzealous rail security guard summoned Homeland Security after seeing my cousin and me walking towards the tracks in South-west Detroit. We were questioned and searched (much to their surprise I had a shutter-release cable, a flash, and god forbid, a light meter in my backpack), detained for close to 90 minutes, and let go with a waring: Stay away from the tracks. I’ll try.

From Miranda's Backyard

I found this in a friend’s yard and asked her if I could take it home. Since she was nice enough to oblige, I gave her a print of this shot. It’s on her wall. It looks nice there.

Lost In The Harbor

This image is one one of my first impressions of Dutch Harbor, AK. Located close to the beginning of the Aleutian Island archipelago, this island is a wind-swept dot on the map reaching out towards The Bering Sea. My time there was brief and miserable, but it was an experience, and at least I came away with some interesting images.

Lamp and Stadium

This was taken from the Roebling Suspension Bridge walkway. I have a lot of photos of street lights, parking meters, and fire hydrants. I always imagined them as the silent, ever-present observers to the happenings of daily life in the city.
